Well, here we are, two weeks after Christmas and I have just now found time to update the blog as I watch the 2nd half of the BCS National Championship game. (great game by the way)
I hope all is well with everyone in this new year! Sal and I are doing well. She has a bit of a cough right now, but is doing just about everything possible to get well. We have been reading a book together entitled The Pressure's Off by Larry Crabb. I wanted to use this post to share with you a few paragraghs that we read tonight that were very helpful to me and I thought may be helpful to you. I think the theme of the book can be gleaned from the following...
Using anorexia to prove a point about idols in our lives...Crabb writes,
"The anorexic shouts, "To me, anorexia is everything." And we shout with her, "To us, a better life is everything." It may not be the experience of power that anorexia brings. It may not be the instant pleasure that pornograghy brings. It may be the rush of achievment that seeing our kinds do well provides, or the quiet joy of climbing into a nice car we can afford, or the deep pleasure of spending an evening with a much-loved spouse, or the excitement of a growing ministry.
If something other than Christ is the reason for which we live, if we depend for our deepest joy on anything other than seeing Christ, if the 'Better Life of Blessing' is everything to us, then we're living the Old Way.
Then the pressure's on. And we're vulnerable to troubles of description.
But if we live the New Way, the pressure's off. We may still experience a variety of trials, but our souls will be in line with the Immanuel Agenda--God will be our God, and we will be His people."
Well, I found those words helpful. Let me know your thoughts...

Hello everyone again!!
I have had a few questions about the wedding so I thought I would clear them up.
The wedding is going to be May 26, 2007 in Nazareth PA 18064. I have not yet looked into prices for hotel rooms and group rates, but I will and let you know. Honestly I kind of forgot about it so thank you for the reminder. Any other questions please do not hesistate to ask because I may have forgotten about that too :) My email is Adonai716@entermail.net.
Thank you and I can't wait to see you all in May!!!!
Lauren
Hey Lauren,
Thanks for letting us know. We're actually going to try to use one of timeshare weeks out there at one the 5 or 6 resorts close by. April was pretty sure about the date but we wanted to make sure. Ryrie was asking me the other day if I had been to Egypt - no, Israel - no, Bethlehem - no, Nazareth - well we're going there for Curtis and Lauren's wedding! All those places are fresh in his head after hearing the Christmas story so much recently. Last Sunday we were at our Nursing Home service with Ryrie and Regann and Ryrie raised his hand to have us pray for Curtis, which we did, but when I got back to my seat after the prayer he wispered to me - WE FORGOT LAUREN! We do pray for you often and you are on our kid's minds as well. We are looking forward to seeing you at the wedding!
Hey everybody,
First, Clif, that is a good thought and gives us a lot to think about. In this world today it is so easy to get off track, fast. So we need to pray for eachother and hold eachother accountable.
I wanted to give you an update on my housecleaning project. Last week I did the livingroom and the diningroom. I did quite well and had the carpet cleaned. This week I am working on the kitchen. So far I have the top cupboards done and am working on the bottom. They are hard for me to get down to to wipe them out. My knees are a little sore today because of the coming rain.
We had a good day in church yeaterday. We had one family visiting. We had a young evangelist preaching, 23 yrs old. He has a radio ministry. His name is Aron Snodderly. He is from Herriman, TN. He did a very good job.
Curtis called yesterday and heis doing well. I sent him some lemon chicken and he got it yesterday so he sat down and ate it, then went back to the box and found instant mashed potatoes I had sent to go with it. Jay Arnold was here and Curtis was able to talk to him about a problem he is having there with one of the officers. The Lord had that planned, I'm sure, so he could get good, been there, advice. Jay is a retired Marine.
I talked to G. Schmiedeskamp Sat nite and they have ice there and snow. So pray for their safty.
Well, I guess I better get back to my job of cleaning.
I love you all and pray for you. MOM
