Sunday with Clifton and Sally

I thought I would share our Sunday with you.  I hope you welcome the thought.  I don't mean to force it on you...just thought I would share.

This is not our usual habit, but before we even got out of bed this morning, Sally suggested that we invite our friends Jake and Lacie over for breakfast...so we did.  We woke them up and they came over and we enjoyed our pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, and milk with them.  I have to say that it was a very helpful way to start this day on which we focus on the gathering of believers.

They headed home around 9:45 and we finished getting ready.  Sally and I are on the Connecting Team for the 11:15 service at Sojourn.  Here are some pics to give you an idea of what that is like...not a perfect representation, but nonetheless some that I took this morning...

the visitor info table
folding before the service
Brad...he is the leader at the 11:15

So, that is how it started...

Since I had the camera with me, we stopped on the way home to capture some of colors on Southern Parkway...

We arrived home and Sal finished a wonderful pot of soup...

and we ate it...while i put this post on the blog...and here we are...

That is our Sunday so far...and it has now been shared with you.

WE LOVE YOU ALL and PRAY FOR YOU much...

Peace,
clif

Only 7 days left until we expect to get a new baby in the family! I'd love to hear how Curtis and Lauren are feeling. . . are you about to lose your mind with anticipation??? I AM for you! Just want you two to know we here in Louisville are thinking of you often and praying for as you draw closer to the delivery.

Yeah! Looking forward to that new little one!

Well, I gotta tell you that your Sunday Morning brought back memories of our Cracker Barrel Sunday Morning breakfast days – though your memory of it is probably not as clear. I think you spent most of those breakfasts in a high chair or booster. I remember we could feed the whole family there for about $12 and we all had biscuits and gravy – well, accept Cita and Cary - they would often have biscuits jelly or molasses or honey – just to break the mold.

April says you two should enjoy the spontaneity while you can!

My Humble Pie

In all honesty my first (inappropriate) reaction was – well – not what it should have been and I was wrong! As I’m sure you know our Sunday AM’s are drastically different than yours, Clif. However, after some thoughtful discussion, soul-searching, and honest evaluation (in other words getting over my fleshly, prideful reaction – thanks to my help meet) here, by God’s Grace, is where my heart is now… (whew!)

We’re so amazed at God’s Grace enabling you two to be able to do such a special thing like this on a Sunday Morning while at the same time being truly grateful for His Gracious provision of Cheerios, Crispix and Rice Krispy Sunday Mornings which enable us to get our clan to Worship on time.
God is Great everyday but certainly it behooves us to realize His abundant blessings even more on the day we gather for corporate worship.
Let us pray for and pursue unrushed Sunday Mornings resulting from a Saturday evening of preparation. May we all make Sunday Morning Worship a priority we plan for and look forward to throughout the week.
Thanks, Clif and Sally for reminding us of the exciting things God will do through us as we yield our sacrifices to Him and serve others especially those of the household of faith.

(Some may think it unnecessary for me to air all this here but as this is our family blog I’ll seek to be as open as I can.)

Well Caleb, we love your honesty.

It has occurred to me to be mindful of the freedom we now have. . . especially as this pregnancy continues to draw closer to an actual baby living in our home! AND, I can even confess that I have wondered just how this new baby girl will change the fun Clif and I now have and even the idea of sharing his love has been a bit unsettling for me at times.

Of course, that doesn't mean I'm not totally excited to love on this baby and care for her! I am! But with change there is always a bit of insecurity I suppose.

That said, I hope so much to have a house full of little ones like you and April someday. And I desparately hope God grants us the wisdom and patience to manage our home, especially on Sunday mornings, as smoothly as you two! I love the times we've come to visit you guys and been a part of your Sunday mornings. Yes, they're definitely different than ours right now, but the preparation and routine seem to allow the family to get where they need to be all fully clothed and fed with happy attitudes! Now, that is saying something, if you ask me!

Just think, about the time we are in the stage you now enjoy, Riery and Regann will be old enough to help cook up the Sunday morning breakfast and Cassia will be dressing herself!

Off the subject but some of you siblings who went to Maranatha may remember Warren Brokering - he was there while all of us were attending.
Anyway he had a battle with cancer and passed away in October. You can read more about him here - http://thebrokeringfamily.blogspot.com/

Lauren actually has 10 days until her due date. She went to the doctor today and they said that all is well. We will be going to Knoxville this weekend for my monthly drill. Its the Marine Corps Birthday Ball. My last one!! So please pray that everything goes well there. We are also praying that, due to some scheduling issues at the academy, the baby would wait until the 24th to come. The doctor would like to induce on the due date, 21st. We are trying to talk him into letting us wait until Monday. We'll see what happens. Love ya!!

Well, it always seems like when I have so much I want to say on this blog I so little time to do so. I am on the computer for little snipits of time and always on the go. (thats bad).

I was very touched by the post and the comments. The Subject of the "goings on on Sunday morn" is
an area I also feel passionate about.

A calm sunday morn with allthe details worked out the night before are very important to me also. Personally I would love to have a big breakfast together to ponder and discuss the Day set aside for Worship and Soulsearching. BUT I can tellyou my little clan is happy with some milk and a granola bar.

I enjoy puttin on Worshipful music.the children know there is no TV and We all strive to get prepared for worship in an orderly and peaceful fashion.
Clothes laid out the night before and lessons prepared offering in purse and a good rest all help to make things smooth.

we do fail at this from time to time and it is a good reminder of why we do those things.

Chuck birthday Will be celebrated this weekend. We have had a very full schedule.

Yes I am very excited about our new little niece.

loved the pics too,clif.

Hey, Well, many of your comments brought back many memories. And, yes, it takes a lot of planning. But after a while you get it down and it's not so hard. One thing to keep in mind is that Sat. is the day to set aside for getting ready for Sunday. I still do that and I hace no children at home. Now I usually cook all morning on Sat.

We are excited about little Roth #17 coming, as well.

I'd like to write more but bed is calling. I have 2 more days of subing at CCS. Then I'll write again.
Love to you all.

Some one out here in family land is wondering what thoughts might be toward having the Roth grandchildren exchange names for the Christmas gift exchange. There are now 18 Grandchildren and it is felt that all 18 could be included in the exchange.
Any thoughts? Now this person will not be offended if everyone thinks it is a terrible idea but they are just throwing it out there to see what others think. So let the discussion begin.....

I think that's a great idea! I'm surprised you don't do that already!

Someone's been using people's names illegally! Now I will confess - it was the WI Roth's idea initially, however, we did not leave any comment after that one until now. I'm glad someone thinks it's a good idea. It did cross our minds to do something silly like that but it wasn't us.
My guess is Clif is the guilty party! Seeing as Clif and Sally and I are the ones who most often frequent this blog.

I am agreeing with you Caleb! As a matter of fact I questions Clifton earlier and he admitted his guilt! Pretty funny I thought!

Anonymous said...

yeah...well...if everyone would start reading the blog more often, maybe it wouldn't have been so obvious. :-)....

I agree!!!! this is for real.

Here is a link that you may find comical and encourgaging - it actually gets back to some of what this thread was actually about. Maybe read it together at the supper table tonight - It may be especially timely for our two very soon to be car seat toting parents.
