2009 Resolutions

Hey Roth's,
Got any resolutions for the new year you'd like to share! We're interested in everything from the serious and spiritual to the funny and amusing! So let's hear 'em!

I'll take the liberty to share a funny/serious committment that Clifton has recently made. . . He joined Coury Deeb's fat club! Apparently, Coury determined he needed to lose some weight and as a way to help motivate himself he started a fat club! Sounds kinda harsh, I know! Anyway, the rules go like this: Clif had to weigh in. . . which he did at 228 lbs. AND by March 17th he has to weigh in at 10% less than his original weight. Thus losing 23 lbs. If he doesn't not reach his mark, which would be 205 (and a much healthier weight for the ol' boy) he will have to pay $50. If he does meet his goal he will share in the earnings with the other winners. They share the money the losers have to pay! So. . . blessings to Clifton as he endeavors to exercise more and eat less ice-cream! Both worthy endeavors that will help propel him toward this goal of losing 23 pounds!

As for me. . . I've resolved to make my new year committments sometime after Violet has entered the world and we've made it out of the fog of having a newborn. I'm not one to set myself up for failure, you know! So, I'll have to get back to you on those!

Looking forward to hearing from ya'll!

I am sure we all know the definition of resolution. But I had to look it up and read it for myself. I have never made a New Year resolution to be honest:) Just maybe I will ponder this!
1. a formal expression of opinion or intention made, usually after voting, by a formal organization, a legislature, a club, or other group. Compare concurrent resolution, joint resolution.
2. a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.
3. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.
4. the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.
5. the act or process of resolving or separating into constituent or elementary parts.
6. the resulting state.
7. Optics. the act, process, or capability of distinguishing between two separate but adjacent objects or sources of light or between two nearly equal wavelengths. Compare resolving power.
8. a solution, accommodation, or settling of a problem, controversy, etc.
9. Music. a. the progression of a voice part or of the harmony as a whole from a dissonance to a consonance.
b. the tone or chord to which a dissonance is resolved.

10. reduction to a simpler form; conversion.
11. Medicine/Medical. the reduction or disappearance of a swelling or inflammation without suppuration.
12. the degree of sharpness of a computer-generated image as measured by the number of dots per linear inch in a hard-copy printout or the number of pixels across and down on a display screen.

Okay? Now we all know what a resolution is...

I am determend to simplify my life in many areas. I am also resolved to be as healthy as I can possibly be. I believe that involves losing my excess weight. So I am excited about that. I am also resolved to read the Word more to myself and to my children.

I am trusting God for the wisdom to keep all this in order and to keep a Godly balance in all things.

Clif, I know you will do a great in your endevor.

Maybe I will see you this weekend. hope so.
